Sharon Osbourne says she can relate to what Jada Pinkett Smith is going through after the “Girls Trip” star announced she was left “devastated” when son Jaden Smith moved out of the house and asked to be emancipated at age 15.
On Tuesday’s episode of “The Talk”, Osbourne says she regrets allowing her eldest daughter Aimee, then 16, to move out of the family home during the production of “The Osbournes”. The reality TV show captured the lives of Sharon, Ozzy, Jack, and Kelly Osbourne over 52 episodes between 2002 and 2005.
“She couldn’t live in our house because we were filming and it drove her insane,” Osbourne reveals. “She felt too that she didn’t want to grow up on camera. She hated the idea. It was appalling to her.”
Earlier this week, Pinkett Smith called Jaden’s request to move out “one of the most heartbreaking moments” of her life during Monday’s episode of the Facebook series “Red Table Talk”.
For Osbourne, Aimee’s decision to leave was equally heartbreaking.
“She left at 16 and I regret every day that she did,” she says. “She was happy but it broke my heart when she moved.”
