Shawn Mendes started off the second night of his four night stint on “The Late Late Show” by taking over from host James Corden and doing the monologue himself.
The Canadian singer’s monologue began with jokes about scandals surround U.S. cabinet member Scott Pruitt, only to be interrupted by Corden who wanted to know what Mendes was doing.

“I’m here all week, so I thought I could kick things off by saying some topical jokes like you,” Mendes told him.
“I am thrilled that you’re here all week,” Corden responded. “But the monologue is mine.”
Mendes countered: “I was thinking we could do a ‘Shawnologue’.”
Later in the show, Mendes sat on the couch alongside Homeland stars Claire Daines and Mandy Patinkin.
Asked if he’s a fan of Mendes’ music, Patinkin revealed that not only does he and his family listen to the 19-year-old at home, he even knows how to sing his songs in their original language… Yiddish.
Patinkin even sang a hilarious sample of a Yiddish version of Mendes’ hit “Stitches”.
