TV viewers know Rachel Brosnahan as the star of Amazon’s “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”, but she’s also the niece of Kate Spade, who died of an apparent suicide on Tuesday at age 55.
Brosnahan, who is the daughter of Spade’s brother, shared a touching tribute to her aunt on Instagram.
“Knowing Katy, this is how she would want to be remembered,” wrote the 27-year-old actress, accompanied by a video of the late designer dancing with husband Andy Spade.

Knowing Katy, this is how she would want to be remembered. She had a light that words can’t capture but touched everyone she came into contact with. She was exceedingly kind, beautifully sensitive, insanely talented, funny as heck and one of the most generous people I have ever known. She was effervescent. Hug your loved ones extra tight today.
Kate Spade’s brother-in-law — “SNL” alum David Spade — also paid tribute on Instagram, remembering her as being “so sharp and quick on her feet. She could make me laugh so hard.”
