Dan Reynolds paid a visit to “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” on Wednesday to promote his upcoming HBO documentary “Belieiver”, and the Imagine Dragons frontman got candid about his recent split from his wife of seven years, Aja Volkman.

Discussing the experience of seeing his wife onscreen in the doc, which was filmed before their breakup, Reynolds tells host Ellen DeGeneres that he and his ex remain on good terms.

“Aja is the reason that I am anything today,” Reynolds says. “All activism in my life, all musical accomplishments come from her. She’s my best friend. She’s been my creative partner for 10 years now, and hopefully for the rest of my life.”

Reynolds admits that having a job that sees him on the road for much of the time contributed to the split. “Marriage is already difficult to begin with. Add a husband who’s gone 90 per cent of the year, doing something that I really believe in — it’s just tough. We’re just working through it, and we’re going to continue to co-parent together. I love her. She’s my best friend,” he says.
