The first trailer for the highly anticipated film starring Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper, “A Star Is Born”, is finally here.
Cooper, who also acted as director for the flick, sings like a seasoned pro in the short teaser allowing him to keep up with Gaga’s powerhouse vocals.
Cooper plays a fading country crooner, Jackson Maine, whose personal struggles are ending his once bright career. While Gaga acts as Ally, a struggling artist that Maine takes under his wing after watching her perform at a bar.
The new trailer previews a few original songs from the movie, but focuses on the rock/country ballad written by Mark Ronson, who produced Gaga’s 2016 album “Joanne”, “The Shallow”.
Following the trailer’s release, Barbra Streisand — who starred in the hit 1976 version — gave her seal of approval to Gaga’s update.
“What I saw of it was very good,” Streisand said in an interview with Associated Press. “It’s just it feels reminiscent of mine, but they added some new things which I liked, too… I’m sure it’ll work.”
Even this is the third remake of “A Star Is Born” (the first movie debuted in 1937), Streisand explained that the plot is timeless.
“The story works,” she said. “It worked in 1937. It worked in 1954, it worked in 1976 and it’s going to work in 2018… It’s Romeo and Juliet — everyone knows the ending, but they like watching how we get there.”
“A Star Is Born” hits theatres Oct. 5, 2018.
