It’s been pointed out how much Florida Georgia Line’s Brian Kelley resembles Prince Harry, and the singer used that to his advantage to open Wednesday night’s CMT Music Awards in Nashville.
Prior to the show, Kelley and FGL partner Tyler Hubbard shared a photo of themselves decked out in military garb, offering a cryptic hint of what was in store.
The duo’s fans found out in the opening sketch of the awards show, which cast Kelley as Harry and Hubbard as Prince William in a spoof of TV coverage of the royal wedding, kicking off with special cameos from Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest — and Darius Rucker as the Queen.
As the duo drive through the streets of Nashville in a horse-drawn carriage (with Trace Adkins as a coachman!), they wave to the crowd, yelling, “Cheerio!”
“Brother, I feel a little bit posh,” Kelley quips. “Indeed,” responds Hubbard, putting on his best attempt at a British accent.
When Hubbard tells Kelley of his uncanny resemblance to the red-headed prince, Kelley replies, “Man, I get that all the time,” telling his partner, “but you’re starting to look like Prince William.”
“You think?” says Hubbard, removing his hat to reveal a faux bald head.
