For the third night of his extended “The Late Late Show” guest run, Mendes starred in a sketch set on a New York subway platform where Corden was busking.

Interrupting the host’s acoustic rendition of “You’re Beautiful” by James Blunt, the Canadian singer started playing his own cover of Oasis’ “Wonderwall”.

This set off a hilarious escalation of covers. Corden responded with Jerry Lee Lewis’ “Great Balls of Fire” on a piano, only to face the 19-year-old pop star manning a DJ turntable playing Calvin Harris and Rihanna’s “We Found Love”.
