‘The Girl In The Spider’s Web’ Trailer Introduces Claire Foy’s Lisbeth Salander

Claire Foy is ditching the royal crown and elegant dresses for nose piercings and dragon tattoos in the first trailer for “The Girl in the Spider’s Web,” the latest adaptation of the Stieg Larsson “Millennium” series.

“The Crown” actress, who turned heads with her performance as Queen Elizabeth in the hit Netflix series, stars as hacker-vigilante Lisbeth Salander, a role previously played by Rooney Mara and Noomi Rapace.

Sony Pictures debuted the trailer on Thursday (June 7), and while very little plot details are given away, the new mystery once again brings together Salander and journalist Mikael Blomkvist (now played by Sverrir Gudnason) for what seems like another mission of revenge and blackmail.

The story appears to pick up several years after the events of “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,” of which the film adaptation was produced by David Fincher in 2011.

“Don’t Breathe” director Fede Alvarez helms the new adaptation, which is based on the first book by David Lagercrantz in his continuation of Larsson’s popular trilogy. The screenplay was written by “Peaky Blinders” creator Steven Knight.
