Kelly Clarkson is opening up about her recent weight loss.
The “American Idol” alum, 36, explains she has a thyroid disorder that causes weight fluctuations, but reveals the secret that helped her take control of her body.
“I literally read this book, and I did it for this autoimmune disease that I had and I had a thyroid issue, and now all my levels are back up. I’m not on medicine anymore because of this book,” says Clarkson, referring to The Plant Paradox by Steven R. Gundry. “It’s basically about how we cook our food, non-GMO, no pesticides, eating really organic.”
She adds, “I’m not working out! I think people think I’m working out and I’m like, ‘Don’t think I’m going to come to play some sport!’”
“Literally, I haven’t worked out at all!” she admits.
Before spilling her weight loss secrets, Clarkson shrugged off previous questions. On the season finale of “The Voice” she joked that she’d hired a wizard, “I have to shout-out my whole glam squad,” Clarkson quipped. “I literally hired Harry Potter and SPANX; it’s all like a sausage.”
But on Friday morning, the “Love So Soft” singer addressed her new figure with Hoda Kotb on “Today”, discussing her “37-pound” weight loss.
“That’s not even the best part,” she told the host about her weight. “I mean, I know the industry loves the weight gone, but for me, I am not on my medicine anymore. I haven’t been on my medicine since February.”
