Ryan Gosling dropped by “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on Friday to promote his upcoming film “First Man”, a biopic of legendary astronaut Neil Armstrong that reteams him with “La La Land” director Damien Chazelle.
Kimmel had some out-of-this-world plans for interviewing the Canadian-born star, with both host and guest outfitted in spacesuits and chatting from within the confines of a lunar module from the heights of outer space in the video above — featuring a special “Gravity” cameo from George Clooney.
Gosling also joined Kimmel at his talk show desk, where a chat about the NBA Finals led Gosling to discuss how being the father of a one-year-old and a three-year-old presents some challenges in watching the TV shows he wants to watch.
“Let’s be honest,” Gosling quipped, “I’m not watching anything that doesn’t have a talking tiger in it.”
Later in the interview, Gosling opened up about filming “First Man”, revealing that hours in a multi-access astronaut training device that kept him going “ass over tea kettle” for six to eight hours at a time (actual astronauts usually don’t spend more than 20 minutes) left him feeling a bit scrambled — to the point that partner Eva Mendes worried he might have suffered brain damage when he developed a bizarre conspiracy theory about donuts.
