Vince Vaughn has pleaded not guilty to charges stemming from his June arrest for driving under the influence.
The Blast is reporting that the 48-year-old “Dodgeball” star (who did not appear in court) was arraigned on Friday, with his lawyers entering a plea of not guilty on his behalf to all three charges: driving under the influence, driving with a blood alcohol content of .08 or higher, and disobeying a peace officer.
According to a report from TMZ, the arrest occurred in the morning of June 9 in Manhattan Beach, California, about 30 minutes south of Los Angeles.
Insiders tell TMZ that Vaughn was arrested after being stopped at a routine police checkpoint while driving with a passenger.
“According to Manhattan Beach PD, Vaughn and his passenger were stopped at the checkpoint around 12:30 a.m., and asked to step out of the vehicle. Cops say both men were uncooperative and, initially, refused to get out,” reports TMZ.
When they finally exited the vehicle, adds TMZ, Vaughn was arrested at approximately 1 a.m., then booked and cited for misdemeanour DUI and obstructing an officer. The passenger in the vehicle was booked for obstruction and public intoxication.
Both men posted bail and were released.
This is not the first time that Vaughn has found himself behind bars; back in 2001 he was arrested after taking part in a bar brawl in Wilmington, North Carolina, in which actor Steve Buscemi (“Boardwalk Empire”) received multiple stab wounds.
TMZ reached out to a rep for the actor, but did not receive a response.
Following news of the arrest, authorities released Vaughn’s mugshot.
