Mindy Kaling had a lot tell the 2018 graduating class at her alma mater, Dartmouth College in New Hampshire, when she delivered the commencement address on Sunday.

During her speech, the Dartmouth graduate took a few shots at President Trump, including this joke: “I’ll tell you my secret, the one thing that keeps me going, my superpower: delusion,” she quipped. “This is something I share with the president, a fact that is both horrifying and interesting.”

The 38-year-old star/creator of “The Mindy Project” also offered practical lessons for the grads, including her advice to “buy a toilet plunger.”

She also poked fun at the state motto, “Live Free or Die” while recalling the frigid New Hampshire winters. “But when you’re here in January, ‘die’ actually sounds like a pretty good option,” she joked.

Kaling shared more wisdom with the graduating class, explaining how she learned that life doesn’t necessarily unfold in the same order as planned, using the recent birth of her daughter as an example.

“According to movies and TV, this is traditionally the time when my mother and spouse are sharing this experience with me. I looked around and I had neither, and for a moment it was kind of scary,” recalled Kaling, who is unmarried and raising her daughter as a single mother.

“Don’t be scared if you don’t do things in the right order, or if you don’t do some things at all,” Kaling advised “I didn’t think I’d have a child before I got married, but hey, it turned out that way, and I wouldn’t change a thing. I didn’t think I’d have dessert before breakfast today, but hey, it turned out that way and I wouldn’t change a thing.”

Kaling also pointed out that big accomplishments don’t happen without big dreams to drive them.

“I was not somebody who should have the life I have now, and yet I do,” Kaling told the grads. “I sat in the chair you are sitting in right now, and I whispered ‘Why not me?’ and I kept whispering it for the past 17 years.”
