Sara Bareilles, Josh Groban Honour Tony Losers In Hilarious Opening Number

Sara Bareilles and Josh Groban kicked off the 72nd annual Tony Awards with a bang.

The pair began with a soothing piano duet before switching gears to honour those who will be walking away empty-handed after Sunday’s show.

While explaining why they are perfect for the hosting gig, they sang, “Neither of us has won anything,” before Groban quipped, “It is what it is.”

But the losers tonight shouldn’t feel alone, big productions like “Jesus Christ Superstar”, “Dreamgirls”, “Into The Woods”, and “Chicago” have never won Best Musical.

Finishing off their opening number, the duo invited all the ensemble members from every nominated musical and they all gloriously sang, “Theatre is filled with bad***es — this one’s for you!”
