The “RuPaul’s Drag Race” team sparked online backlash after they used the term “Bipolar Express” during the latest episode.
“Drag Race” viewers took to Twitter in droves to comment after the series’ host RuPaul Charles introduced the “Evil Twins” maxi challenge, which saw contestants have to come up with two looks for the week; an “evil” one and a “good” one.
The presenter even encouraged the stars to “board the Bipolar Express,” which resulted in fans saying the show was making light of a serious condition.
RuPaul revealed, “It’s time to split… personalities. I wanna see ‘Sybil’ disobedience. Double down. All aboard the Bipolar Express. Wooo woooo! Deuces!”
After the episode aired, one viewer posted: “The problem [with] RuPaul saying ‘bipolar express’ is that this casual use of bipolar as an adjective/joke will make others think that it’s okay for them to grossly misuse the word too.”
Another called the whole thing “f**king wrong.”
ET Canada has reached out to a “RuPaul’s Drag Race” spokesperson for comment.
