Australian actor Paul Hogan is set to star as himself in the upcoming movie “The Very Excellent Mr Dundee”, it’s been revealed.

Hogan, 78, who recently left “Crocodile Dundee” fans disappointed when a short film that appeared to be a trailer turned out to be an ad for Tourism Australia, urged people to “watch this space” in terms of who will be joining him for the upcoming flick.

The movie is set to start production next month in Australia, Los Angeles, and Vancouver, Variety reported.

The film will see Hogan on the brink of receiving a knighthood for his services to comedy, however, despite being told, “Don’t do anything to mess this up,” by his manager, that’s exactly what he ends up doing.

No supporting cast members have been announced as of yet, but Hogan said in a statement: “Watch this space as I’ve been honoured to have many of my friends and colleagues, whose work I adore, agree to join us for this hilarious new adventure.”

The eagerly anticipated flick is set to be directed by Dean Murphy, who is also producing alongside Nigel Odell.

News of Hogan’s return to the silver screen set off speculation he’d be reprising his most famous role, but the actor was quick to quash those rumours during an appearance on an Australian morning show.

“No,” the actor told the hosts, “there’s not another ‘Dundee’ movie coming out.”
