After stealing the weekend box office from “Solo: A Star Wars Story”, the “Ocean’s 8” cast took over London with the film’s UK premiere on Wednesday.
The all-female heist film’s director Gary Ross attended the premiere along with his star-studded cast, including Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Rihanna, Helena Bonham Carter and Mindy Kaling.
“I think it’s just important to see this kind of ensemble of eight women,” Ross said about why he wanted to make the film. “We haven’t seen eight strong women get together and unapologetically do something as badass as this.”
Bonham Carter said she loved working with the ensemble cast. “The chemistry was like a bomb,” she said.

Asked what the attraction of doing “Ocean’s 8” was for her, Kaling cited the “incredible” cast and franchise, and added, “I never look cool in anything I do. I feel like I always have to be the loser in whatever I’m doing, so it’s nice to be someone who’s cool in this.”

Bullock arrived at the premiere arm-in-arm with her boyfriend Bryan Randall, whom she’s been dating since 2015.
“Lots and lots of money,” Bullock jokingly gave as the reason she signed on to the project during the Warner Bros. UK livestream of the red carpet. “No, you know what, it was the idea of working with fellow actresses I had maybe not been allowed to work with and experience their great talent. And that’s exactly what I got.”
