Billy Bob Thornton has revealed the “only reason” he’s not still married to ex-wife Angelina Jolie.

The 62-year-old, who split from the 43-year-old actress in 2002 after two years of marriage, discussed the couple’s relationship on the HFPA In Conversation podcast.

“That was a great time. Angie is still a friend of mine and she’s a great person and she’s done so much.”

“She makes movies that are important to her whether they succeed or fail, she still does what she believes in and I’ll always respect her for that. And I remember our time together as really being great. We just had different lifestyles.

“Hers is a global lifestyle and mine is an agoraphobic lifestyle. So that’s really, that’s the only reason we’re probably not still together.”

Thornton’s interview also saw him discuss his and Jolie’s “blood necklaces,” insisting that the whole thing was exaggerated by the media.

He explained, “The necklaces were a very simple thing.”

The actor said that the duo thought, “‘Hey, let’s poke our finger with a pin and smear a little on there, and when we’re away from each other, we’ll wear the necklace.’ That was that easy, but by the time it came out in the press, it sounded like we were wearing a bucket of blood around our necks.”

Thornton is now married to Connie Angland, with the pair tying the knot in 2014. They share their 13-year-old daughter, Bella.

Jolie, on the other hand, went on to marry Brad Pitt in 2014 but they separated in 2016 after 10 years together.

Thornton’s comments come as Jolie’s rep issued a statement Wednesday after her custody battle with Pitt went public.

According to court documents obtained by People and Us Weekly, Pitt will now be able to spend a lot more quality time with Maddox, 16, Pax, 14, Zahara, 13, Shiloh, 12, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 9.
