It’s time to start getting pumped for “Aquaman”.
This week’s Entertainment Weekly is giving DC fans their first look at the upcoming underwater superhero blockbuster, and star Jason Momoa is on two collectible covers.
One of the covers features a dripping wet Momoa as Aquaman; the second features him flanked by co-stars Nicole Kidman and Amber Heard.
“The water world my movie takes place in is so separate and so far apart from previous DC movies it’s like I’m making my own sci-fi fantasy film,” said the film’s director James Wan. “This is a whole new underwater world nobody has seen before in live action.”
Executive producer Peter Safran also spoke about the perfect casting of Momoa, who made his first appearance in the role in last year’s “Justice League”.
“Rarely has a superhero character been married to the real-life actor as much as Aquaman and Jason Momoa,” Safran said. “He’s authentically from two worlds, he’s this real physical specimen, he’s got this humour, which he’s never been allowed to play before — in every regard he is Aquaman.”
The new issue of Entertainment Weekly hits newsstands this Friday.
“Aquaman” is out in theatres Dec. 21.
