Like father, like son!
Dwayne Johnson proved that he’s a chip off the ol’ Rock when it comes to his commitment to the Make-a-Wish Foundation.
As People reports, the “Rampage” star spoke to the New Jersey chapter of the foundation via a video he sent, in which he reveals that his father — pro wrestler Rocky Johnson — was one of the first people to grant a sick child’s wish through Make-a-Wish in New Jersey.
“Make-A-Wish means something,” the WWE champ-turned-movie star said. “It’s something very meaningful to me and I hold very, very close to my heart.”
Johnson’s dad, he explained, became one of the New Jersey chapter’s first wish-granters when he visited a 10-year-old boy named Bobby Macaluso, who suffered from ALS.
“I remember my Dad telling me and Mom, ‘There’s a little boy, and he wants to meet me, and he’s really challenged right now, and he’s fighting hard, and his one wish is to meet me,’ and I was blown away,” Johnson said of his father’s 1983 visit. “And I remember meeting Bobby and his family, and my Dad was holding him, and it was a very special moment and time in our lives.”
Added Johnson: “It moved me. It changed my life even then as an 11-year-old.”
Johnson also shared his thoughts on Instagram, congratulating the foundation and sharing more about his father’s visit with the ailing youngster, along with some newspaper clippings documenting the visit.
“My Dad told Bobby, ‘Just think of yourself as a champ, and you’ll be a champ’… Amen,” he wrote. “What a special moment.”

*scroll left. This one’s special. Congratulations @makeawishnj for 35 YEARS of granting wishes to kids. What makes this day especially meaningful to me and my family is that, 35 years ago – my dad, Rocky Johnson (pro wrestler) granted one of Make A Wish New Jersey’s first 10 wishes ever. My dad told Bobby, “Just think of yourself as a champ, and you’ll be a champ”… Amen. What a special moment. I remember my family feeling incredibly lucky and grateful to be there and meet Bobby and his family and watch my pops make Bobby’s day. Congratulations again New Jersey. Keep up the amazing work and have a great fundraiser tonight. And to the highest bidder, you’ll be my special guests for our SKYSCRAPER WORLD PREMIERE on the red carpet in NYC! See you there! #MakeAWish #RootsRunDeep #NewJerseyChapter #35Years
