We’re only a few weeks in to the latest season of “The Bachelorette”, and one of the suitors is already making a big impression — albeit not in a good way.
That contestant is Lincoln Adim, who made headlines last week when it came to light that he had been convicted of indecent assault and battery just days before the season premiere, leading Warner Bros. (which produces the show for ABC) to launch an investigation into why the background check didn’t reveal the conviction.
Things with Adim became even weirder on this week’s episode when he told his fellow “Bachelorette” suitors of his belief that the Earth is flat as a pancake, even offering some less-than-compelling evidence.
“When you look out of a plane, everything is flat,” he told the men. “And why does the water not fall on all humankind if it’s on top of us?”
As you’d expect, his fellow suitors were downright incredulous, with one even asking him how, if the world were flat, explorers managed to sail around the planet without falling off the edge.
“By just traveling … and friction and gravity,” Adim explained. “Do you know why you can walk [on the Earth] and not slip off? Friction.”
He followed that up with an even loonier theory: that the planet’s shape could change.
“We’ve been shown more evidence so far that the Earth is round … it could change in the future,” he added.
Naturally, Twitter had a field day with the “Bachelorette” contestant’s bonkers comments:
