Donald Trump’s Former Campaign Manager Says ‘Womp, Womp’ To Story Of 10-Year-Old Immigrant Girl With Down Syndrome

Corey Lewandowski is feeling the wrath of the internet.

Lewandowski, a political commentator and former campaign manager for Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign, is being criticized for an insensitive remark made during a debate on Fox News.

Democratic strategist Zac Petkanas shared the story of a 10-year-old immigrant girl who was separated from her mother at the U.S. border on Tuesday’s “The Story With Martha MacCallum”.

Lewandowski, a fellow guest, promptly responded with “womp, womp.” An incensed Petkanas repeatedly stated to Lewandowksi, “How dare you?!”

“Did you just say ‘Womp, womp’ to a 10-year-old with Down syndrome being taken from her mother?” he asked. “How dare you! How dare you! How absolutely dare you, sir!”

MacCallum tried to regain order, telling both parties “nobody can hear when you both talk.”

Lewandowski argued, “When you cross the border illegally, you have given up the rights of this country. We are a country with borders. We are a country of laws.”

The “womp, womp” generated plenty of heat on social media, with notable personalities like Megyn Kelly and Kumail Nanjiani disappointed in Lewandowski.
