Joe Jackson has reportedly been hospitalized with terminal cancer.
The 89-year-old, who is the patriarch of the Jackson family, is said to have been battling the illness for quite some time, according to TMZ.
The site also reports that doctors said the disease has reached the “end stages” and that the father-of-11’s cancer could not be treated.
Medics are also thought to have said they’re not sure how long Jackson has left.
On Sunday, Jackson tweeted, seemingly confirming the reports, writing, “I have seen more sunsets than I have left to see.”
However, Joe’s granddaughter, Paris, then posted:
According to People, Janet Jackson addressed her father in a speech at the 2018 Radio Disney Music Awards on Friday.
“It’s beautiful, it’s humbling to be recognized as someone that has had a positive impact, but if I have been fortunate enough to impact others it is only because I, myself, have been greatly impacted by positive people in my life,” she said. “My mother nourished me with the most extravagant love imaginable. My father, my incredible father, drove me to be the best that I can.”
The latest news comes after Jermaine Jackson, 63, spoke about his ill father, claiming that the family have been unable to visit.
The former Jackson 5 band member is said to have told the Daily Mail: “No one knew what was going on – we shouldn’t have to beg, plead, and argue to see our own father, especially at a time like this. We have been hurting.”
“We were not being told where he was and couldn’t get the full picture. Even from the doctor. My mother was worried sick.”
He added of his father, who has battled a variety of illnesses over the years: “He’s very, very frail, he doesn’t have long. The family needs to be by his bedside – that’s our only intention in his final days.”
“It’s what any family would want, but some people around him think they know better… and they don’t.”
