Sarah Hyland is getting real with fans.
The “Modern Family” actress, 27, has shared her ongoing health battle with Instagram followers as she continues to check in-and-out of the hospital, but this time, it’s taken away from her work.
Hyland, who is currently filming the movie “The Wedding Year”, took to Instagram Thursday night to share her latest health scare.

“Sometimes a selfie is more than just a good angle or feeling cute. This time for #NationalSelfieDay, I’ve decided to share my truth. As painful as it is,” Hyland captioned a photo of her swollen face. “So here is my face that was torn from work against my will. But I’m very grateful it was. Health should always come first.”
While she didn’t reveal what her recent hospital trip was caused by, Hyland has been vocal about her life-saving kidney transplant she underwent in 2012 and her battle with a medical condition that caused her to lose muscle mass.

In a second Instagram story post, the “Geek Charming” alum confirmed that she was hospitalized on Monday, June 18. “Can’t wait to come back to my precious angel princess. She’s perfect and knows exactly what I need at all times,” she wrote with a video of the pup. ”This was taken this past Sunday. Day before hospitalization. She was literally telling me to get treatment.”
Just a week after her medical scare, Hyland is sharing another update with fans.
On July 4, the actress showed off post-surgery scars in a bikini shot on her Instagram.
“Scars on display,” she captioned the photo.
Hyland seemed to be feeling better as she posted many pictures from her Independence Day celebrations, including another bathing suit shot, this time with her girlfriends.
