“The Hate U Give” promises to be one of the most talked-about films of the fall.

In the first trailer for the film, based on the best-selling novel by Angie Thomas, stars Amandla Stenberg as Starr Carter, a teenager who witnesses her childhood friend shot by a white police officer.
Starr soon sees her world divided between the low-income black neighbourhood she lives in and the upper-class mostly white private school she attends.
Directed by George Tillman Jr., the film also stars KJ Apa, Algee Smith, Regina Hall, Common, Anthony Mackie and Issa Rae.
“The Hate U Give” is set for release October 19.
