People want an explanation from Liam Payne.
The former One Direction star was featured in a new Adidas campaign alongside David Beckham, Pharrell Williams, Elton John and more. The celebrities were asked to express what Pride means to them ahead of London Pride, but Payne’s answer left people scratching their heads.
“I think since I’ve had a little boy, everything changes in life,” he said in the Tuesday Evening Standard newspaper article. “He’s making me a better man, which I think is incredible.”
Some users expressed the importance of having heterosexual allies, but warned they should be more educated on LGBTQ issues if they are going to speak about Pride.
“I’m all for allies vocalizing their support but understand what you’re supporting,” wrote one person. “It’s not about making your children proud of you. It’s about rights you will never understand. It’s about equality you have. Check your privilege Liam Payne and please do some research on Pride.”
Others were simply ticked off, accusing Adidas of missing the mark by having predominately heterosexual stars discuss Pride.

“I’ve stared at this for about 15 minutes now. What? What is this? Is this a joke? What the f**k is going on?” another tweeted. “Are we just a little branding exercise now for the potato one from 1D and other straights of note? Someone, please, lead us out of this abyss!”
Payne, 24, has yet to respond to the criticism.
