Azealia Banks is asking fans to help her mount a lawsuit against Russell Crowe.
The rapper launched a GoFundMe campaign over the weekend to raise money in order to take Crowe to court for allegedly assaulting her and using a racist slur during a fight in a hotel party in which Banks allegedly threatened to attack party guests.
“Russell Crowe spit on me at a party in 2016 and denied it, had a group of people gaslight me causing irreparable damage to my acting career and my reputation as well as loads of emotional damage,” Banks wrote on the campaign page.
“Crowe called me a n****r, choked me, and spat on me,” she alleged. “If I were a white singer he wouldn’t have even thought about laying a finger on me. So many things like this happen in the entertainment industry and it’s time that ALL these perpetrators get reprimanded so they STOP this violent behaviour!!”
According to Page Six, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office declined to press charges against Crowe, explaining the actor’s actions were “justified to prevent the imminent violence threatened by Banks.”
