There’s no doubt Steve Carell is a funny guy, but now Ed Helms is reminiscing about just how funny his “The Office” co-star was on set.

“[Steve Carell] just slays me,” the “Tag” actor says during an appearance on “The Dan Patrick Show”. “There’s something in his eyes. There’s a lot of times when I was doing a scene with Steven and I had to look at his chin, otherwise, I would just lose it.”

Helms, who played Andy Bernard on the comedy, says there was one scene in particular that had the cast laughing so much it required 30 takes to film.

Apparently, Carell was just so funny as Santa Claus in the season six Christmas episode “Secret Santa” that Helms and his castmates just couldn’t keep it together.

“There’s an episode where he’s playing Santa,” Helms recalls. “Kevin is sitting in his lap, and he’s so awful about it, because it’s uncomfortable for him, and he’s just being really rude and weird and mean about it. I had to duck behind a plant – you can see [it] in the actual episode.”

In the clip of the scenes, both Helms and co-star Mindy Kaling are seen fighting back laughter as they watch Brian Baumgartner’s Kevin sit on Santa’s lap.

“And by the way, that was like take 30, because I had been laughing in every single take. He’s a genius,” Helms adds.
