Susan Sarandon was one of over 500 women arrested at a protest in Washington, D.C. on Thursday.
Sky News reported the protest took place in a Senate office at the U.S. Department of Justice where hundreds of women were speaking out against the president’s zero-tolerance immigration policy which has led to thousands of children being separated from their parents.
Sarandon tweeted live from the protest, right up to the moment she was arrested.
Women were chanting, “We care,” in reference to the jacket Melania Trump wore on her trip to meet with migrant families which read “I really don’t care, do u?”
“What do we want? Free families!” the women also chanted.
Senator Elizabeth Warren showed up to rally behind the protesters who were wearing the same kind of foil blankets seen in photos of detained migrant children.
Democratic House representative Pramila Jayapal was also among those arrested at the protest.
