There were very few surprises for Taylor Hicks during his run on season five of “American Idol”.
Hicks, 41, joined Birmingham, Alabama’s WJOX radio on Friday and revealed he was tipped off by one of the show’s producers before the eliminations were read live on television.
“I had an ‘in’ the whole production of the show,” the singer said. As such, Hicks knew the results of each week’s show before anyone else. When asked if other contestants were also informed of the week’s outcome, Hicks said “absolutely.”
The only episode he did not have insider info on was the finale in which he was crowned as the season’s winner. Nevertheless, he was given a wink and a nod by one of the show’s executive producer’s before the final results were read.
Hicks at no point suggested the show was rigged, only that he and other competitors were aware of the results heading into each week’s elimination.
