The casting process for the upcoming “Charlie’s Angels” reboot is underway and “Power Rangers” actress Naomi Scott has reportedly been tapped to play one of the central roles.
According to That Hashtag Show, Scott is set to join the Sony Pictures reboot which is being directed by Elizabeth Banks. Scott starred as Kimberly in the 2017 “Power Rangers” movie and will appear as Princess Jasmine in the upcoming live-action remake of “Aladdin.”
Kristen Stewart and Lupita Nyong’o are also rumoured to be playing the other two angels, though it’s stated that Nyong’o is still involved in talks for the movie.
The only confirmed person as of this moment is Banks, who as well as directing the movie will star as Bosley, the hacker who was played by a man in previous iterations.
“Charlie’s Angels,” which began life as a TV show in the 1970s, has previously been rebooted twice. The first movie reboot came in 2000, starring Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu, and spawned a sequel in 2003. ABC also relaunched the TV series in 2011, but it was cancelled after just one season due to poor ratings.
The script for the new film was written by “Beauty and the Beast” screenwriter Evan Spiliotopoulos, though it was later rewritten by playwright David Auburn and then updated again by Carlo Bernard and Doug Miro, the co-creators of “Narcos.”
Filming has reportedly been pushed back until September and is expected to wrap in January ahead of a June 2019 release date.
