Tim Robbins is calling out Donald Trump and the U.S. Supreme Court for its recent decision upholding a ban on travel from Muslim-majority countries.
Speaking to journalists at the Karlov Vary Film Festival on Saturday, the actor and activist said, “That Supreme Court decision will be remembered as a disgrace,” Variety reported.
Robbins is at the Czech film fest to screen his films “The Cradle Will Rock” and “Bob Roberts”. The latter is a film about a conservative political candidate who is “a big fan of beauty pageants and was also formerly in a military school and avoided service.
“I had no idea we would ever elect Bob Roberts as president of the United States,” Robbins said, referring to Trump.
As for being outspoken on progressive issues, the actor said, “I don’t know that I would like myself very much. To know something and to not say anything, to me, is a betrayal of what a democracy is.”
Robbins’ longtime partner Susan Sarandon has also regularly spoken out about important issues.
