Christina El Moussa speaks out about dealing with a painful divorce in the latest issue of People magazine.
The 34-year-old, who split from ex-husband Tarek almost two years ago, insists she finally feels “at peace” now, adding that the pair are doing all that they can to take care of their children; daughter Taylor, 7, and son, Brayden, 2.
The “Flip or Flop” star says of her previous struggles, “I felt like I was drowning. I was doing whatever I could to stay above water and just get through the day.”
El Moussa goes on to speak about the “unfortunate incident,” which saw Tarek, who has since said he was “out hiking in the mountains” by himself, reportedly flee their home with a gun.
The incident resulted in a helicopter and 11 officers responding to an alleged suicidal male.
The star admits of the split, “A lot of people were thinking, ‘What’s going to happen?’ Tarek and I were so tied together on everything: real estate, the show, our children, our house. It was so stressful, and everyone was worried that it was going to explode.”
However, she says of their kids: “Somehow we managed to build something even bigger than we had before.”
El Moussa, who is now dating Ant Antstead, continues to say of how she feels at the moment: “I thought of this year like a rebuild.
“So I’m starting from scratch. I’m moving, I have a new TV show, a new boyfriend—there’s a lot of projects going on. I’m just so happy, and for the first time in a long time, I feel at peace, which is such a good feeling.”
El Moussa’s comments come after it was revealed last week that she’d managed to bag her own HGTV series, “Christina on the Coast”.
