Guy Pearce shocked an interviewer in a recently-released clip as he accused Kevin Spacey of being “handsy” on the set of 1997 movie “L.A. Confidential”.
Pearce, 50, was speaking to Andrew Denton for the chat show “Interview” when he made the comments, according to The Sun.
He explained: “Yeah… yeah. Tough one to talk about at the moment. Amazing actor; incredible actor. Mmm. Slightly difficult time with Kevin, yeah.”
The actor added: “He’s a handsy guy. Thankfully I was 29, and not 14.”
In a follow-up interview with Australia’s Fairfax Media on Saturday, Pearce expressed regret over making the story public.
“I very much understand that it’s too sensitive a topic to be brushed off,” he said according to the Sydney Morning Herald. “I addressed and handled the situation when it took place, hence my regret at making it public now.”
He clarified that he was not sexually assaulted, but was made to feel uncomfortable.
Pearce’s comments come after Anthony Rapp dropped a bombshell last year, alleging Spacey attempted to “get with me sexually” when he was just 14 years old.
Spacey said in a statement at the time: “I have a lot of respect and admiration for Anthony Rapp as an actor. I’m beyond horrified to hear his story.
“I honestly do not remember the encounter, it would have been over 30 years ago.
“But if I did behave then as he describes, I owe him the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behaviour, and I am sorry for the feelings he describes having carried with him all these years.
“This story has encouraged me to address other things about my life.”
