Tina Turner’s firstborn son Craig Raymond Turner, 59, died earlier this month.
A spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Coroner’s office confirmed the news of his death to Entertainment Tonight. He was found dead at his home in Studio City, Calif., at 12:58 p.m. on July 3.
“The call was reported as a suicide, gun shot wound,” the spokesperson continues. “The next of kin has been notified. There will be an autopsy done and there is an investigator at the scene.”
On Friday, Tina opened up about the loss, tweeting that it was “my saddest moment as a mother,” and sharing a photo from the ceremony held last week in which the family scattered Craig’s ashes off the California coast.
Craig was born just after Tina turned 18, before she married her first husband Ike Turner. Ike and Craig’s biological father, Raymond Hill, performed in a band together. After Ike married Tina in 1962, he adopted Craig and gave him his last name.
