Coco Rocha has spoken out about receiving backlash over her parenting skills, with her admitting that things got so bad at one point that she would break down in tears.
The Canadian model, who is mother to now-3-year-old daughter Ioni and 3-month-old son Iver, recalled the time she went on holiday to Hawaii with her first child.
It was during this trip that she received countless negative comments after she shared a snap indicating that she fed her baby with formula instead of breast milk.
Rocha told Fox News: “I remember crying in the airport at Hawaii and [my husband] James started helping me with what I would write to people. I was emotional about that because no one knew why I did it but thought their opinion mattered.”

The 29-year-old went on to say that people weren’t aware that she couldn’t actually feed her baby breast milk because her “milk went dry” after almost four months.
Rocha continued, “I pretty much couldn’t make milk overnight, which was quite shocking to me. My pediatrician pretty much explained to me that… She was pretty much really hungry. And I wasn’t creating enough milk.
“So right away I had to make a decision about formula. Sure enough, she latched on that bottle. For quite some months, she was exclusively formula-fed.”
Rocha, who was also mom-shamed for saying that she used an app called GoButler to deliver her formula, added: “This was my first mommy shaming, which was shocking to me. I thought as moms, as women, we come together. But this was my first, and not my last, mommy shaming experience. It did open a dialogue that I guess needed to be heard.”
Despite insisting that things have definitely got easier, the model admitted that some days are still easier than others.
Rocha shared, “There are still days, not so much with Iver, I would cry in the shower over my choices that I felt were right when people were telling me they were wrong. Or how people would say such nasty things. Sometimes you literally laugh at them.”
