“Late Night” host Seth Meyers took aim at Donald Trump in a spoof video mocking the U.S. president’s knowledge of American history.
In the animated video, which “Late Night” shared online on the Fourth of July, Meyers does his best Trump impression as he reads from a book titled “President Donald J. Trump’s Salute to America’s Independence.”
The book walks us through the Revolutionary War and American Independence, all from a Trump-slanted perspective.
“The Boston Tea Part was a big tea party in Boston, Massachusetts where American patriots threw a bunch of tea in the river,” Meyers’ Trump begins.
“We all know that Americans don’t drink tea, they drink coffee. And Diet Coke,” he continued, referring to Trump’s favourite beverage.

In a later section, Meyers’ Trump claims former Virginia Governor Patrick Henry “famously tweeted, ‘Give me liberty, or give me death.'” Sadly, this was “way before they gave you 280 characters.”
Another highlight sees Meyers’ Trump confuse Benedict Arnold with his favourite eggs-based breakfast.
“I have it every time I eat at Trump Tower Bar and Grill, one of the highest-end restaurants in a tower in New York City,” he says.
When discussing King George III, the spoof Trump says he likes the way “king” sounds. “I’m going to see if they can change my title. King Donald has a very nice ring to it.”

On Wednesday morning, Trump tweeted a real Independence Day message, where he talked about the story of the Declaration of Independence and praised the U.S. military.
“Let us never forget that our freedom has been earned through the blood and sweat and sacrifice of American heroes,” he said. “And let us share the grateful heart of our nation with every veteran and member of the United States Armed Forces. Truly special people.”
