Maisie Williams is saying goodbye to “Game of Thrones” in a Westeros-inspired way that’s as bloody as any of the HBO hit’s violent plot lines.
On Saturday, the 21-year-old actress — who plays aspiring assassin Arya Stark — posted a photo of her blood-splattered shoes on Instagram, along with a farewell note.
“goodbye belfast. goodbye arya. goodbye game of thrones. what a joy i’ve had. here’s to the adventures to come,” she wrote.
Williams added a few hashtags to her post, including a couple that may provide a clue to the fate of Arya in the upcoming final season: #lastwomanstanding, followed by #barely.
Those cryptic hashtags led some to speculate that Williams was hinting that Arya will be the only character — or perhaps the only female character — to survive the perilous season; others, however, noted that she may simply have been saying that she was one of the final “Game of Thrones” actors to film her scenes.
Last month, Emilia Clarke — who plays “Mother of Dragons” Daenerys Targaryen — offered a similar Instagram goodbye to the show.
The eighth and final season of “Game of Thrones” will air in 2019.
