Harley Quinn and the “Birds of Prey” are coming your way.
The “Suicide Squad” actress talked about her upcoming spin-off in a new interview with Collider.
“She’s got to be with other people, it should be a girl gang,” Robbie said of the “R-Rated girl gang film.”
“I wasn’t seeing enough girl gangs on screen, especially in the action space,” the actress explained. “So that was always a big part of it.”
Robbie, 28, will star in and produce the movie. Following suit with films like “Wonder Woman”, Robbie described the importance of attaching a female director to the project.
“And then, of course, having a female director to tell that story,” Robbie stated. “And giving a female director the chance to do big budget stuff.”
Concluding, “They always get ‘Here’s the tiny little film’… I was like, ‘I love action. I love action films. I’m a girl. What, are we meant to only like a specific thing’?”
A release date of “Birds of Prey” has yet to be confirmed, but production is set to begin in January.
