Zayn Malik has just given his fans a special gift they didn’t even know they needed: a brand-new cover version of Elvis Presley’s iconic hit “Can’t Help Falling in Love”.
Over the past few weeks, the former One Direction member has been teasing his upcoming album, tweeting to fans that he’ll have “a few surprises for you.”
The Elvis cover (which can be heard above) is presumably one of those surprises, along with his cover of Beyonce’s “Me, Myself, and I” that he shared in the earlier tweet.
The album presumably won’t consist entirely of cover songs, although mystery surrounds the as-yet-untitled LP — which still hasn’t set a release date.
In a recent interview, Malik offered some hints about his top-secret second solo effort. “It’s all very like, under wraps at the minute,” he explained in an interview with Apple Music’s Beats1. “I’m trying to keep it as mysterious as possible but there’s a plan with the rollout. It’s going to be different to anything anyone has done before, I don’t think anyone has done it this way. So it’s going to be interesting to see how the audience react to this kind of release, but I wanted to try something different.”
In late May, Malik unveiled the music video for the single “Entertainer” — watch:
