Actor Joseph Capone is breaking his silence about being kidnapped and violently pistol-whipped, appearing on Monday’s edition of “Good Morning America” to share the story of how he and “Halloween: Resurrection” actress Daisy McCracken were kidnapped and held for ransom.
Addressing what “GMA” host Robin Roberts described as that “bizarre Hollywood hostage story,” Capone shared the horrifying experience of being kdnapped, stripped naked and beaten while held captive for hours by armed abductors.
“I’m a survivor,” Capone said during his “GMA” appearance. “I think it’s a state of mind. Yeah, that happened. But what’s tomorrow?”
Now that three people — Keith Andre Stewart, Johntae Jones and Amber Neal — have been indicted for the crime, Capone recalled being unexpectedly abducted by a man he didn’t know back in May 2017.
“He grabbed me by the collar and dragged me outside and dragged me down the driveway and threw me in the back of a car where Daisy was already in the backseat,” said Capone. “And they put bags over our heads and then proceeded to drive.”
Capone would spend the next 30 hours being beaten and threatened, but while in the car he noticed that McCrackin and Jones appeared to know each other. “Daisy had known him in some capacity. I’m not sure, but my Spidey sense was kind of tingling,” he explained. “It felt weird. It felt like something was off.”
At one point, Capone continued, he tried to escape but didn’t get far. “I was seen immediately and given another solid beating and thrown back into the bathroom where one gun was put into my mouth,” he said, adding that after that he was stripped naked and thrown “in this filthy bathroom with no lights on.”
According to authorities, the hostage situation ended when McCrackin wrote their abductors a cheque for $10,000. “They said things like, ‘If she doesn’t come through man, I don’t know what I’m going to have to do, I don’t know what’s going to happen to you,’” Capone said. “He whacked me on the head with the gun and then proceeded to stomp on me and give me a pretty good beating.”
