Pierce Brosnan isn’t great at keeping secrets.
The actor was appearing alongside co-star Amanda Seyfried on ITV’s “This Morning” to talk all about “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again”, when he apparently revealed a spoiler for the film.
Speaking about the decade-later sequel, Brosnan said, “It’s how Meryl [Streep] met Sam, Harry and it’s delightful – there’s much more meat on the bone on this one. I think it’s as good as, if not better than, the last one. We all felt that, and the first one was so brilliant and such an unexpected surprise for everyone. Just went through the roof.”
At that point co-host Phillip Schofield said, “I don’t think you realize, Pierce, that you’ve just done a little bit of a spoiler.”
“I have?” Brosnan asked, looking confused.
“We were keeping a secret, maybe I’ll just let it go, and if you spotted what the spoiler was then well done,” Schofield said before moving along to the next question.
Viewers were left scratching their heads as to what exactly Brosnan had spoiled.
While what was spoiled isn’t 100 per cent clear, it’s possible Schofield was referring to Meryl Streep’s involvement in the film, which Brosnan mentioned earlier in the interview.
Though Streep is listed as one of the stars of the film, new footage of her has been completely absent from the trailers for the film which is about her character Donna – played by Lily James – when she was younger.
For now, fans will just have to find out for themselves when “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again” hits theatres July 20.
