Celebrities from all corners of Hollywood are telling the tale of Miran.
A slew of stars including Ryan Reynolds, Amy Schumer, Jake Gyllenhaal and Maggie Gyllenhaal teamed up in a video called “My Name is Mirian”.
The supercut was released by the American Civil Liberties Union on YouTube and invited famous faces to read the story of a Honduran asylum seeker who was separated from her 18-month-old son.
Maggie Gyllenhaal and Lee Garrett, the deputy director of the ACLU’s Immigrants’ Rights Project, are the creative minds behind the video.
Many celebrities spoke out against U.S. President Donald Trump’s immigration policy following its enforcement in April. Earlier this month, for example, Hollywood super-couple Chrissy Teigen and John Legend donated $288,000 to the ACLU as a late birthday president to Trump.
The video hopes to raise awareness and protect children from being separated from their families. Following its release, the hashtag “#MyNameIsMirian” began trending on Twitter.
