Hannah John-Kamen is having a big year, playing a villain in two big blockbusters.
The 28-year-old actress appeared on “The IMDb Show” this week to talk about her role in “Ant-Man and the Wasp”, as well what it was like working with Steven Spielberg on “Ready Player One”.
On playing the complicated baddie Ghost in the “Ant-Man” sequel, John-Kamen preferred to take a different view of the character.
“I love to look at Ghost, as she is the threat in the movie, 100 per cent. But no, she is not a villain,” she said. “Through her eyes everybody else is a bad guy, she’s the good one, she’s desperate, she has a very clear goal in the movie.”
John-Kamen continued, “I think that’s what Marvel does so well, the villainous characters are redeemable and its not black and white. Yeah, I think there’s going to be a lot of confused feelings from the audience, I think, towards Ghost.”
She also revealed that she and Spielberg liked to sing show tunes on the set of “Ready Player One”.
“It was absolutely amazing – he’s a magician. And when Steven gets really giddy and excited he’s like ‘And that’s a movie moment!’ and he’ll scream it,” she said of working with the director. “The one thing that surprised me is in between takes we would sing show tunes together – just me and him. We would sing ‘Singin’ in the Rain’, ‘Guys and Dolls’.”
