After Thursday’s Primetime Emmy nomination for her show “Full Frontal With Samantha Bee”, host Samantha Bee is looking back at her controversial comment about Ivanka Trump.
While she’s excited about the nod, the Toronto-born comedian, 48, says the uproar for calling Trump a “feckless c**t,” was something she reflected on a lot, “It affected me a lot,” explained Bee to The Hollywood Reporter. “I’ve been thinking a lot about it. We had a scheduled vacation around July 4, and it was a time of reflection.”
And it was a learned experience for Bee, “I do think that being a part of the outrage machine is an inevitability now,” she said. “That’s a reality everyone has to grapple with – not just me. The level of ferocity is something I hadn’t quite experienced up to that point, but I assume I’ll go through it again. Maybe I’ll be better prepared next time. I think we handled it well, but it was a pretty steep learning curve.”
But on her Best Variety Talk Show Emmy nomination, Bee is careful not to celebrate too much, “You can’t celebrate your victories long.”
Adding, “That’s all I’m saying.”
