Ewan McGregor’s 22-year-old daughter Clara is having second thoughts after throwing some serious shade towards his girlfriend, Mary Elizabeth Winstead.
Back in July, Clara, a model and the eldest of McGregor’s four daughters, left an insulting comment on Instagram under a pic of Winstead at the 2014 Vanity Fair Oscar party. The photo of Winstead was captioned “#beautiful” to which Clara replied, referencing the fan account’ profile description: “Most beautiful and talented woman on earth??? Oh man y’all are delusional. The girl is a piece of trash :) x.s”
A month later, however, Clara McGregor is now regretful of her hurtful comment.
“It wasn’t the most mature way to go about things, but I was angry and upset,” she says in an interview with U.K. newspaper The Times. “There had been a lot building up to it and a lot to deal with — not to make excuses or anything — but, yeah, it wasn’t my finest moment.”
In October, news broke that McGregor and his wife of 22 years, Eve Mavrakis, had split earlier in the year after photos of the actor kissing his “Fargo” co-star Winstead emerged. Winstead, 32, and her husband, Riley Sterns, split in May 2017 – the same month McGregor, 47, and Mavrakis separated. McGregor officially filed for divorce in January citing “irreconcilable differences.”
While Clara doesn’t seem to be a fan of Winstead, she did share a photo of herself with her parents in May at her graduation.
She’s not the only one in the McGregor household who is letting her feelings about her parents’ split be known.
Clara’s younger sibling Esther, 16, also took to Instagram to share her feelings over he dad’s new girlfriend, posting an original song about “s*** I found online.”
“Seeing those pictures, they’re making me cry… And I don’t know how to forgive. I don’t know if I can,” she sings in a post from January.
McGregor and Winstead, who have not been photographed together since an appearance at the Tribeca Film Festival in April, have yet to comment on their relationship.
The couple reportedly split after Winstead was labelled a “homewrecker,” but have since reconciled.
