Felicity Jones is heading to court as Ruth Bader Ginsburg in the biopic “On The Basis Of Sex”.
The film follows Ginsburg’s early struggles in the fight for equal rights, coming up against challenges in her personal and professional life, including being told women are “too emotional” to be lawyers. Teaming with her husband Marty (Armie Hammer), the Ginsburgs bring what will become a landmark case of gender discrimination to the U.S. Court Of Appeals.
Directed by Mimi Leder (“Deep Impact”), the film also stars Kathy Bates, Sam Waterston, Justin Theroux, Jack Reynor, and Stephen Root.
The new look at Ginsburg’s life arrives as the 85-year-old celebrates 25 years as an associate justice of the Supreme Court of the United States — only the second woman to ever hold the position. “On The Basis Of Sex” also comes on the heels of “RBG”, the critically acclaimed documentary on Ginsburg.
“On The Basis Of Sex” opens in theatres December 25.
