Prince George’s fifth birthday is just around the corner and to celebrate the special occasion, a new £5 coin has been released by the Royal Mint in his honour.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s firstborn, who is third in line to take the throne, turns five on July 22 and so, is being honoured with a coin that features the legend of St George and the Dragon.
The commemorative coin also comes in a special presentation pack entitled The Progress of a Prince.
“It’s hard to believe it’s been five years since we welcomed His Royal Highness Prince George of Cambridge into the world. Adorably mischievous, he has captured the hearts of people all over the world, stealing the show wherever he goes,” the Royal Mint said on its website. “From royal tours with his parents to starting his first day at primary school, he has shown us glimpses of his lively personality and growing interests. Now a big brother to two siblings, Prince George of Cambridge’s fifth birthday falls in a year already full of family celebrations.”
Royals fans can purchase the coin on Royal Mint‘s website for £13. A silver proof version is also available for £82.50, while a celebration sovereign, which will be struck on George’s birthday on Sunday, is priced at £500.
Prince George was last spotted at the christening of his baby brother, Prince Louis, at the Chapel Royal at St James’s Palace on July 9.
Happy fifth birthday, Prince George!
