Zayn Malik has been keeping fans stoked with the release of new music in advance of his upcoming album, the long-awaited followup to his 2016 debut “Mind of Mine”.
Following the release of several new tracks — including hit “The Entertainer” and covers of Beyonce and Elvis songs — on Wednesday Malik unveiled a new song titled “Sour Diesel”, a funk-tinged dance number that gives Bruno Mars a run for his money.
In conjunction with the release of “Sour Diesel”, Malik also released an accompanying music video, which can be viewed exclusively on iTunes.
“With a narrative conceived by Zayn, the video for ‘Sour Diesel’ sees him acting the role of a vigilante hero who faces a few twists and turns,” reads the announcement for the video, with Malik sharing a link via Twitter:
Malik has been hard at work on his second album, and in a recent Twitter post he teased that the album “is on the way,” adding that he’s “got a few surprises for you too.”
In an interview with BBC Radio 1, the former One Direction star hinted at a new direction that may surprise some of his fans. “It’s a bit different to my last record in terms of it’s matured, [I’ve] got a bit older,” he said. “I didn’t know what was going on for a while. I was just putting out a record and not really being as prominent as I wanted to be.”
He added: “I think my confidence has definitely grown in the last year and a half.”
