The cast and producers of “Origin” dropped by Comic-Con on Thursday, where the first trailer for the upcoming YouTube original sci-fi series debuted.
Coming from the producers of “Lost” and “The Crown”, “Origin” is set in a dystopian future in which the world is a dark, violent place. Escape, however, can be achieved for those who agree to head into space in order to colonize a recently discovered planet with a similar atmosphere to Earth, travelling there on a three-kilometre space vessel.
“Harry Potter” stars Tom Felton (a.k.a. Draco Malfoy) and Natalia Tena (Nymphadora Tonks) head the cast.
“We meet a group of troubled passengers as they wake up on a damaged spaceship abandoned in deep space,” describes the synopsis of the show. “Each having left behind a dark past in search of a fresh start on a newly colonized planet, they’re desperate to survive at all costs. But as their terrifying situation spirals into paranoia, they come to realize that the greatest threat to their dream of starting over — and indeed their lives — might actually be within their midst…”
During the Comic-Con panel, reports Deadline, series creator Mika Wika Watkins told fans that the show “isn’t just one thing — it’s many different things,” adding that “Origin” jumps from genre to genre, ranging from a Japanese mafia tale to German noir to a virtual reality love story.
“Origin” is set to premiere in the fall; you can watch the terrifying trailer above.
