The members of Lady Antebellum try hard to balance their family lives with their work lives.

Hillary Scott, Dave Haywood and Charles Kelley appeared on “Sunday Today”, opening up about how they manage it all, especially with new kids at home.

“I’m wearing a lot of hats right now with newborns at home, so it’s a lot of packing, lists, checklists,” Scott said.

The country trio, who have been together for 12 years, have gone through a whole lot together and have even tried group therapy to strengthen their relationship as a band.

“We’ve even done a lot recently, just getting back into this and the balance,” Kelley said. “It is nice because I do think when bands don’t talk and let out some of that stuff, it’s nice to have a little unbiased professional that’s like, ‘Right there, man, your tone. You see why that probably hurts her feelings?’ and you’re like ‘Aw, man, okay.’”

“It’s like marriage counselling,” Haywood added.

The band has also made sure to have fun over the years, including taking time out to play golf, though having kids has changed that too, of course.

“Now having kids though, you have to balance that. I used to be way more selfish with my time. And we still try to write a lot of songs on the road,” Kelley said.

Lady Antebellum kicked off their “Summer Plays On” tour in Toronto on Thursday night.
